this is for the lovely @sweetiesamara who asked for this tutorial! i have included pictures in this one as well. hope this helps any new simblrs :) I am a mac user, so all my screenshots are Mac. That shouldn’t matter though!
THE ALL MIGHTY POSE PLAYER.
Pose player costs a roleplay blog’s life. we rely on it. and we are blessed that Andrew has created it for The Sims 4. Pose player allows Sims to do custom poses, to make screenshots look lifelike, and adds a cool vibe.
You download poses as Pose Sets, which come with lots of different poses to pick from.
However, Pose Player is not affiliated with EA in any way. Please be aware, and regularly check on the website in case of updates. They’re important.
STEP ONE: DOWNLOADING POSE PLAYER
SO, You’re all new to the Pose Player. Well sir,ma’am, your screenshot game will turn from a 0-100 with this. But you can’t really get anywhere without downloading it!
CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD POSE PLAYER!
It may be a good idea to open the link in a different tab, and keep this open :)
you’ll be redirected to this page here. You can either read everything on the page, or just scroll down and click download. It’s not vital information. or else the stuff on the page will be covered by me soon.
just click that good ol’ button, and your download should come up.
STEP TWO: PUTTING IT IN YOUR GAME
Easy as step. Just put the .zip folder into The Sims 4 > Mods folder. Remember to un-zip it, or else it’s pretty pointless. The package file for the actual Pose Player is hidden in there.
These two files should be hidden in the new folder that was extracted from the .zip file. This is your pose player, and you NEED both of them for the PP to show up in your game. I normally delete the .zip file, because you don’t need it anymore. And I rename the folder it came in, to POSE PLAYER. So it’s easy to access in case of new updates.
DON’T PUT THE .PACKAGE AND THE TS4SCRIPT FILES IN A NEW FOLDER IN THE POSE PLAYER FOLDER, OR THEY WILL NOT WORK IN GAME.
STEP THREE: GETTING THE POSES
THIS IS THE FUN PART YO! The PP is basically worthless without poses. You must download them yourself! There are tons of awesome pose creators in the simming community, that has poses for everyone :)
SOME OF MY FAVOURITE POSE CREATORS
@flowerchamber, @rinvalee, @kiruluvnst, @conceptdesign97sims @dearkims
OR, HERE IS A LINK TO FLOWERCHAMBER’S POSE CREATOR PAGE!
Pick a pose creator above, and it will redirect you to their blog. For this demonstration, I will go to Flowerchamber’s blog.
All blogs are different, but to get their poses, normally they will have a link called “POSE DOWNLOAD” or “DOWNLOAD”. Some of them might have POSE NAVIGATION which makes finding the right pose so much more easier.
This is Flowerchamber’s navigation for her poses. She has a ton, and so do most of the other creators! so just browse their tag, and pick one you like. ALWAYS LOOK FOR POSE PLAYER IN THE DESCRIPTION! MOST COUPLE POSES DO NOT WORK WITH POSE PLAYER AND ARE OVERRIDES OF SIM INTERACTIONS.
For this tutorial, I will choose a pose called “Lookbook no 3”. (I don’t have this in my game so perfect opportunity :D)
The download link will probably be under the pose pictures. There will be a description, and if you need pose player or not. If it doesn’t say anything about pose player, pick another pose that is 100% for pose player.
When you download the pose to your computer, go back into your MODS folder. Create a NEW folder, called POSES, or POSE PLAYER POSE. anything you want, but make sure you clearly know that it’s poses for POSE PLAYER.
When you’ve created the new folder, drag your newly downloaded pose into there. If it’s in a .zip file, extract it, and find the .package folder(s). You can delete the empty folder and the .zip file if you want. **Sometimes the pose comes with an accessory. Just put that accessory in the Mods folder, or a corresponding folder, such as an ACCESSORIES folder.
here are my poses in the folder, ready to go! Now, with Pose Player and a pose ready, you can either continue into the game, or you can download more poses.
STEP FOUR: POSE PLAYER IN GAME
Lets go into our game. Before you press start, go into your Game Options. From there, go to the Other tab. Make sure ‘Script Mods Allowed’ is ticked. Pose Player is a Script Mod, and will not show up if it is unticked. If it’s ticked, skip this part and go to step five.
Go into ‘Apply Changes’ and you’ll get this scary message.
Just click the tick. YOU MUST RESTART YOUR GAME.
Once you’ve restarted, you can go into your world. pick a household to use the pose. I’m gonna choose my sweet angel Mila, because she’s always gonna be the test subject for my tutorials. Pose Players are for live game, so go into your live game.
STEP FIVE: POSE PLAYER TAKING EFFECT
You can position your sim to where you’d like. Maybe they want to be in a kitchen? Or simply behind a wall. But I’m going to put Mila in her bedroom.
When you’re happy with your sim’s position, it’s time to use Pose Player! simply click on your sim.
Click ‘Pose by Pack’ because that’s where your downloaded poses should be. ‘Pose by Name’ is when a pose you downloaded overwrites an interaction. You enter the code for the interaction for the pose to appear, but don’t worry about that. I’ve never used one.
These are what your pose packs should look like. These are the poses I downloaded. Since Mila is an adult but 4ever child at heart <33333 I will click on the ADULT version. Your pose might just have one version, and that’s for adults. So just click on it.
It should come up with a submenu like this, where all the poses in the pack are. you can choose one of these, and your sim will start the pose. Some pose packs have this option
and that’s when all the poses are repeated on your sim for a few seconds each, like a slideshow.
Your sim should stay in the pose or the slideshow of poses for as long as the interaction is in the activity bar. (on the bottom left corner, ya know) To stop the pose, you can just cancel the interaction from the activity bar. If you’re using the slideshow, cancel the interaction an the slideshow will continue until the last pose.
EXTRA TIPS TO MAKE YOUR SCREENIES SLAY
-Use these lights around your sim to make the lighting better. However, these lights are strong af, so don’t wash out your sim.
-Use the cheat headlineeffects off (you don’t need to have testingcheats on for this to work) to make the plumbob be banished.
-Go into tab mode when your sim is posing. Use your mouse wheel to scroll closer into your sims’ face, to increase the quality and detail. if you zoom out, it will look like an action game or whatever.
-If you’re a super newbie, use C to take screenshots.
